Community Spay & Neuter Services

SafeHaven Humane Society is pleased to offer low-cost spay and neuter services to our community.

In addition to ensuring that all of our adopted pets have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to adoption there are times, when space allows, that SafeHaven can offer these services to community pets as well. Please review the following information:

At this time, our surgeries are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Fees

Cats
Neuter:  $100
Spay: $150

Dogs under 75lbs
Neuter:  $150
Spay:  $250

Dogs over 75lbs

Neuter:  $200
Spay:  $300

Additional services such as vaccinations, flea control, deworming, microchips, and nail trims can be added on at an additional charge on the morning of surgery.

Surgery Requirements

  • Dogs and cats must be at least 8 weeks of age. Kittens must be 2lbs and puppies must be at least 3lbs.
  • Pets must be healthy and pass a pre-surgery exam by our veterinarian the day of surgery.
  • Pets must be able to be safely handled by our veterinarian and the medical team. Feral or difficult to handle cats are accepted but their physical exam will not be able to be performed prior to sedation. Please indicate if your cat may be difficult to handle.
  • SafeHaven is unable to offer pre-surgical bloodwork at this time. If you want pre-surgical bloodwork, this will need to be done by your primary care veterinarian. Pre-surgical bloodwork is strongly recommended for any animal over the age of 7 years.
  • Please provide 48hr notice if you will miss your scheduled appointment.
  • If you do not show up to your scheduled appointment you will be removed from the waitlist.
  • If we attempt to reach out for scheduling multiple times and do not receive a reply, you will be removed from our waitlist and need to reapply during the next application cycle.

Day of Surgery

  • Pets scheduled for spay/neuter surgery must be dropped off between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM the scheduled day of surgery.
  • For the safety of your pet, all cats must be brought in a cat carrier. If you do not have a carrier, you will be required to purchase one for $10. Dogs must be on a leash.
  • Pets are typically ready to go home between 2-4pm on the day of surgery, we will call you to schedule a pick up time once your pet has woken up from anesthesia. Pets must be picked up no later than 4:30pm on the day of surgery.
  • We accept cash, Visa, Discover and Mastercard. Checks are not accepted.

Applicants will be contacted in the order that responses are received. You may be contacted to schedule your appointment within a few days, up to a few weeks if there are many applicants ahead of you. Please contact us if your situation is urgent.
