Our Youth Volunteer Sessions are designed for youth who want to take their love for animals to the next level. Through hands-on volunteering, teamwork, and behind-the-scenes experiences, participants will learn what it takes to care for shelter animals and support a life-saving mission.

Some of the activities youth may participate in during sessions include:

Assisting with daily animal care tasks

Learning about responsible pet ownership and animal behavior

Creating enrichment toys and treats for shelter animals

Helping promote adoptable pets through creative projects

Supporting their community by helping with assistance programs like Pet Food Pantry

This program blends service learning, animal interaction, and skill-building, empowering young people to grow as leaders and allies for animals in need. No prior experience needed—just a big heart and a willingness to help! Youth can participate in one session or many. Time spent in this program is volunteer time and qualifies for most school-required community service.

Kids are welcome to bring a blanket (some will be provided) and pillow from home if they’d like, though we do ask that toys stay home. Kids will also need to wear closed toe shoes for animal time. We ask that light-up shoes stay home as they are just too tempting to play with during the movie. Movies will vary from month to month. Titles are available upon request. This is a drop off event. All adults participating in movie nights are current volunteers or staff who have passed a background check. If your child needs accommodations that require an adult to stay with them during the event, please let us know before registering so that can try to make the necessary adjustments.
