SafeHaven can only accept stray cats due to county regulations. If you’re missing a cat, please visit our Found Pets page to see if your pet is currently in our care.
New strays arrive daily, so check back often. If you donβt see your pet listed, you can also fill out an online lost report.
Missing a dog? Contact Linn County Animal Control, which handles all stray dogs in our area.
Sometimes pets are taken to an agency the finder is familiar with, even if itβs not the closest one. Be sure to contact or visit the following:

Veterinary clinics and shelters will scan found pets for a chip, so keeping your info current is essential.

Thank you for helping a lost animalβyour compassion could be the reason a beloved pet is reunited with their family. If the pet is sick or injured and needs immediate care, please contact a local emergency veterinary clinic right away. Otherwise, follow the steps below to help them get home safely:
Start close to where the pet was found:
Visit a veterinary clinic or animal shelter to have the animal scanned for a microchip. If a chip is found, it may contain the owner’s contact information and help reunite them quickly.
Petco Love Lost is a free national database that uses photo-matching technology to help reunite lost pets with their families.
If you are unable to locate the owner and cannot continue to care for the pet, please reach out to local rescues for help.
SafeHaven does not hold the county contract for stray dogs. All found dogs and puppies must be taken to:

SafeHaven does partner with Linn County and may transfer adoptable dogs into our care if space allows.
There are currently no county services for stray cats or kittens. SafeHaven makes every effort to help as many as possible, depending on available space or foster homes.
