Happy Tails

Did you adopt an animal from SafeHaven? We’d LOVE to hear all about their happily ever after! Will you share your story with us?

Best Friends Furever!

Our main goal at SafeHaven Humane Society is to find amazing, loving homes for every single animal in our shelter. No two animals are the same, which means that no two Happy Tails are the same! We want to hear yours.

Have you adopted your best friend from SafeHaven? Share your story and you may see it featured on our website and social media!

Lolly
Lolly is so very loved! Such a happy update from her family on this sweet girl!

“Lolly has come such a long way. She just wants to run and play with her friends at the dog park, and she has been learning so much along the way. She’s become such a well-behaved puppers. We’ve taken her on many long car rides and brought her to lots of new places, and for the most part, she’s a very quick learner. She still gets overly excited when meeting new people and sometimes jumps on them, but we’re continuing to work on that. She also doesn’t like feeling left out when she can see or hear us, but even that is getting better. Recently, we left her home alone for five hours with access to the backyard, and she did amazing. She didn’t bark or cry even once.

We couldn’t be happier to have her as the newest addition to our family. We love you, Lolly!”
Louie
Thanks to this update on Louie, we know he’s bringing pure joy to his new mom!

“Over the last 9 months I lost both of my parents and 2 of my long time pets. My tuxedo cat, Hurley, was everything to me. I took him with me to take care of my dad when he was on hospice as my small piece of home comfort during that difficult time. Hurley always laid on my left side and slept with me every night. A few weeks ago he had a diabetic crisis and could not be saved. My heart was broken once again and my left side had a vacancy for the first time in years.

Having lost so much in such a short time I needed to find that comfort and happiness again. That’s when I found Louie, formerly known as Yahoo. He has brought me a feeling that I had not experienced in a while. That feeling is pure joy and fulfillment.

Thank you, Safe Haven, for being there for more than just me and providing the services you do. Your staff was incredibly kind and the whole experience was extremely positive. I will cherish sweet Louie for the rest of his life!”

We’re so happy they found each other.
Odie
Just look at that smiling face! We can tell Odie is happy with his new family thanks to this update from his mom:

“The first six months with Odie (Was Opie) has been great! He is so good in the house and with kids. Making progress being less reactive on the leash. He can’t be loose in the yard at all because even though he is 6 yrs old he has no trouble jumping a 5ft wood fence to get to the neighbors dog. Besides that, he is a great addition and sibling!”
Jay & Jackie
These two had an instant connection! We’re thrilled that they are happily living together as best friends thanks to this update from their mom:

“I got Jay back in November of 2023 and he was wild! I had had dogs my whole life and he was the most challenging dog I’ve ever had. He was so skiddish of everything, even touching him. But after years of training and trust he has become the most wonderful dog. Sadly my old border collie (and his best friend) passed and he needed a new friend to keep him feeling confident. We went to SafeHaven again and was very specific on what we needed for Jay. When Jackie came up she was so excited and in your face happy and totally opposite of Jay. We put them together and it was ment to be, they clicked almost instantly.”

Maxwell & Dexter
These boys were destined to be BFFs! We’re so glad their mom shared an update with us on how Maxwell and Dexter are doing in their forever home together.

“Maxwell (formally Blitzen) and Dexter (formally Zeus) are both SafeHaven puppies, adopted between 8-10 weeks old. Maxwell is now 1yr 9mo old and I swear he’s still growing. He currently weighs 78.6 lbs., Dexter is 9yrs old and weighs 47 lbs. They’re best friends, playing together all the time, wrestling and running zoomies thru the house. Maxwell is a bed hog, but will move over when asked, Lol.

I love my boys so much, they bring me so much joy. Thank you SafeHaven for such a precious gift!”
Fender
Thanks to Fender’s family for sharing this adorable update with us! It’s clear Fender has found his purr-fect forever home!

“Fender was named for the guitar, but the car accident (a Fender Bender, his full name) is far more accurate as he throws himself around like a crash test dummy. He is the cuddliest, little love monster. He enjoys spending his days chasing his big kitty sister, Beckie, from one end of the house to the other, snuggling up with his Mama every chance he gets (and chewing on her books while she tries to read), laying on the side of the bathtub when his parents are in the shower, and bouncing off the walls during play time until he’s fully out of breath. He has been one of the best additions to our family and we are grateful he gets to spend his whole life being loved by us.”
Nyx
This might be the funniest update we’ve gotten in a while! Thanks to Nyx’s mom for sharing this with us!

“The best word I can use to describe this little ray of darkness…shock. No matter what she’s doing she always has a shocked look on her face. I’m convinced she’s 99% eyes and nothing else. This cute little void keeps us on our toes and keeps our other two kitties very entertained. Our place hasn’t been this lively in a while! She’s brought so much happiness to us all! Thank you so much for introducing Nyx (formally known as Lucky) into our lives. We adore her so much!”
Sienna
Sienna’s mom recently gave us this update on how she’s settling in to her forever home:

“I’ve had my baby Sienna (formerly “Persia”) for a little over a month now. I’ve always wanted a cat but just recently was put in a position where I was able to adopt one. I’m so grateful for SafeHaven for giving me the greatest kitty in the world. From cuddles, to playing, to finding her asleep in my laundry basket, she’s such a sweetheart through and through. I’m grateful to spend many more years with her.”

We love to help bring families together!
Meadow
“I kept my eye on Meadow for about two weeks. After falling for her online, I decided to check her out in person on Valentine’s Day. She was nervous during our first introduction, but was nothing less than a ball of love who showed her cuddly side in about 10 minutes.

She has been everything I could’ve asked for in a dog. She plays, she’s patient, she sleeps, she’ll cuddle all day, likes her crate, the list goes on. My partner and I are so grateful for the grant from SafeHaven that allowed us to afford Meadow comfortably. Now my evenings after work involve walks and cuddles (what more could a girl ask for?).

We love Meadow, and highly recommended people to adopt dogs. Shortly after, my parents adopted their first dog!”

Thanks to Meadow’s family for sharing her update! We can tell she’s exactly where she was meant to be!
Martha May
Martha May is settling right in to her forever home!

Martha’s family let us know that they have fully fallen in love with this darling girl. They said she loves her squeaky toys, has adjusted well to her feline sisters, gets the zoomies, and loves cuddling on the couch.

Martha May was with us for nearly two months before finding a family to call her own. We are so happy that she seems to be thriving in her home!
Luna
Luna’s adopters promised themselves they were only stopping by to browse, not adopt. But Luna had other plans! The moment she spotted them, she ran across the room and immediately rolled onto her back, showing off her adorable personality. How could they say no to that?

Before they knew it, they were headed home with a new family member! Once home, Luna wasted no time making herself comfortable – dragging out toys, playing chase, inventing games of hide & seek, and of course, soaking up treats and cuddles with her favorite people.

We love a happy ending that starts with “just looking”.
Mak
“Mak (formerly Mercury) is doing amazing! This little kitten blended into our family almost instantly. He loves playing with our dogs (both fellow SafeHaven adoptees!), and they absolutely adore him right back. The cuddle puddles are next-level adorable.

He’s wonderful with our kids. So patient, gentle and full of personality! Mak definitely has a mischievous streak. He loves stealing the kids’ Legos and stashes them behind the bookcase like tiny treasures.

We definitely didn’t plan on adopting a kitten that day (we were just dropping off donations) but we are so incredibly glad we did. His sweet, spunky little personality brings so much joy to our home.”

Thank you for sharing this adorable update on Mak with us! We can tell he’s right where we was meant to be!
