At SafeHaven Humane Society, we hold stray cats for a designated period before making them available for adoption. This gives their families a chance to find and reclaim them.
Please note: Due to county regulations, SafeHaven can only accept stray cats. For stray dog resources, please contact Linn County Animal Control.
All cats currently on a stray hold will be shown below.
Stray Hold Periods
The length of time we hold a stray cat depends on the identification it has:
- No ID: 3 full days
- Collar only: 5 full days
- Microchip: 10 full days
After the hold period, unclaimed cats may become available for adoption.
Reclaiming Your Pet
If you believe one of the cats in our care is yours, we’re here to help reunite you. Please bring proof of ownership, which may include:
- Veterinary records
- Microchip registration
- Photos showing your pet over time
- A bill of sale or lease agreement that includes your pet’s name and description
To help cover the cost of care during your pet’s stay, the following fees apply when reclaiming a cat:
- $15 per day boarding fee
- $8 per ml flea treatment (based on weight)
- $4 per ml dewormer (based on weight)
- $15 for vaccinations
