Meet Peter Pan and Dodger and read their incredible story

Their journey is a reminder that even the toughest situations can lead to amazing outcomes when you’ve have a little help and a lot of heart.

These two brave souls were once confined to a life outdoors, their days filled with struggle and uncertainty. When our director spotted them on the Linn County Animal Control website, she knew their situation was dire. As a bonded pair with skin issues, they faced an uphill battle.When we stepped in to rescue them, we discovered their situation was a neglect case. With patches of missing fur and in desperate need of care, their physical condition was distressing. But one thing shone through despite their hardships: their unbreakable bond. The SafeHaven team were determined to ensure Peter Pan and Dodger stayed side by side.

In our care, we promptly began treating their skin issues and made sure they had time to play and explore in spacious yards.

After about a month at the shelter, a wonderful person came along and saw just how special these two are. Peter Pan and Dodger were adopted together, and our hearts were filled with immense happiness and relief. They made it together, and we couldn’t be happier for them as they faced their golden years deservingly being loved deeply and spoiled to the core.

“I just wanted to send an update on Peter and Dodger.

It didn’t take long for them to make their place in our hearts and as far as I can tell they are content at their landing pad.

I am so sad for whatever they went through, but they inspire me daily in the act of forgiveness because they only have love to give. They are still very bonded even though it’s not overt, I’m so thankful you guys realized it and kept them together.

We love them dearly and are so thankful they found us.
