Start your journey as a SafeHaven volunteer by filling out our online application and viewing our online volunteer orientation. The orientation introduces you to the many ways you can make a difference for the animals at SafeHaven. If you’d like to work directly with our dogs, you’ll also need to complete an additional Dog Handling Class.

To help identify our amazing volunteers, a SafeHaven Volunteer shirt or apron is required during each shift. We have a limited number of loaner aprons and leashes (if you plan on working with dogs) available, but to make sure you’re fully prepared we recommend purchasing your own.
New Volunteer Fee: $35 (covers your T-shirt, nametag, & background check)
Returning Volunteers (who already have their SafeHaven volunteer t-shirt) & Youth Volunteers Under 18 (who do not need a background check): $20

If you are submitting payment on behalf of someone else, please indicate the volunteer(s) names and date(s) of birth that correspond to their volunteer application.
Once you’ve gotten your login information from our Volunteer Coordinator, use our online scheduler to sign up for a Dog Handling Orientation or to reserve your Volunteer shift.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to make friends, learn valuable skills, and even boost your own well-being. At SafeHaven, you can choose to work hands-on with animals or support them behind the scenes – both roles are vital in helping pets find their forever homes.
Giving your time doesn’t just change the lives of animals – it can change yours too! Volunteering has been shown to reduce stress, lift your mood, keep you mentally sharp, and bring a sense of purpose. Best of all, you don’t need to commit huge amounts of time to make a difference. Even small acts of service can help pets in need while enriching your own life.
