This sweet duo has spent their entire lives together, and we’re committed to keeping them that way. The shelter environment has been especially stressful for Ada, and she’s begun showing some behavioral challenges when around other dogs. We believe much of this stems from her inability to truly relax in a busy shelter setting.
Both Ada and Axel are loving, funny, and affectionate companions. Ada is the more reserved of the two and especially cherishes one-on-one time with her humans. She has done well with some dogs in the past but prefers calmer environments. Axel, on the other hand, is a happy, playful, and energetic boy who loves toys, running through the dog tunnel, and earning treats with his charm
Knight’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. He first came to SafeHaven with his brothers in April 2024 and was adopted later that October. Unfortunately, when his adopter’s living situation changed, Knight was unable to stay, and he returned to us in June 2025. Knight is a very sweet boy with so much love to give, but the busy shelter environment makes it hard for him to fully relax. He’s done well with other dogs in play groups, showing he can enjoy canine companionship. Because of all the changes in his young life, Knight hasn’t had much of a chance to build confidence with new people. He may be shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and consistency, Knight will learn to trust and show his wonderful personality.
Millie is looking for a foster home, and the reason is simple: she’s just too smart for her own good. At the shelter, we rely on yard time to help dogs burn off energy—but clever Miss Millie quickly figured out she could climb right out of our chain-link yards. We tried a kennel, but with her sharp mind and busy paws, she nearly learned how to open the door herself. A large panel kennel with a topper? No problem—Millie managed to crack that code, too! Millie is an energetic, intelligent young pup who thrives on mental stimulation and activity. She’s done wonderfully with people of all ages, including children, but she can be selective with other dogs. Because of this, she’d likely do best as the only pet in the home where she can soak up all the attention. With the right outlet for her smarts—long walks, playtime, training, and enrichment—Millie will shine. She just needs a foster home that can keep up with her big brain and bigger heart. If you are familiar with Malinois Mixes or other high energy breeds you might be the perfect friend for Millie!
Monica is a sweet, shy girl who has been with us since April. She arrived with her siblings, all of whom shared her gentle, reserved temperament. While she takes some time to warm up to new people, once she feels safe, Monica’s sweetness really shines through. She’s enjoyed going on Doggy Day Out adventures, where she’s done very well—though sometimes she needs a little extra encouragement and reassurance along the way. Monica has also done well with other dogs, but she did tend to pick on one of her brothers, so we recommend a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs. Monica may thrive in a home with a more confident canine companion who can help show her that new people and places aren’t so scary. With patience, love, and guidance, Monica will blossom into a loyal and affectionate best friend.
Roxie was surrendered to us back in May. When she first arrived, she was outgoing and social, but as time has gone on, the shelter environment has started to take a toll, and we’re beginning to see signs of stress. Roxie has done well with several other dogs, though a meet-and-greet would be required to make sure it’s a good fit. She’s also enjoyed Doggy Day Out adventures, where she loved going for walks, snuggling up, and even relaxing while watching Love Island! Roxie rides well in the car once she’s inside, though she sometimes needs a little extra encouragement getting in and out. With patience, love, and a calmer environment, we’re confident Roxie’s bright, affectionate personality will shine again.
Ruby has been at the shelter since April and would love a break from the busy environment. She’s an active, fun-loving girl who adores toys, enjoys car rides, and has gone on several Doggy Day Out Adventures. Ruby can get a little over-excited at times and sometimes forgets her manners, but she’s been working hard on learning to sit when asked—it helps her slow down and show her best self. Ruby is a strong girl and has been known to pull on leash when excited. She would thrive in a foster home that enjoys long walks, hiking adventures, continued training, and, of course, cuddling at the end of the day. Ruby has been selective with children in the past, so a foster home without young kids would be best.
