Meet Our Trainers

Kaysha Rogers – Enrichment & Training Coordinator
Kaysha Rogers, CPDT-KA is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer who discovered her passion for training dogs as a child in Dog 4H. This love of dogs followed her to college where in 2012 she graduated from Oregon State University with an Animal Science degree with an emphasis on Animal Behavior. Kaysha is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers as well as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She has over a decade of experience showing and training dogs and strives to use fun, non-aversive methods to help dogs overcome behavioral issues. She passionately competes with two of her own dogs Rusty and Loki, in a competitive relay race sport called Flyball and is currently training her SafeHaven adopted dog Wiley to play the sport as well. Kaysha also hopes to compete in the developing sport called Rally Freestyle Elements with her dog Oliver.

Miriam Orzol – Dog Training Instructor

Miriam is a recent graduate of Oregon State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She plans on continuing her education in the Animal Behavior and Dog Training fields later this year with a second degree in Psychology at OSU. She also plans on taking her Certified Professional Dog Trainers Certification this fall. Miriam has always had a love for animals ever since an early age and has experience training dogs, horses, cats, and rats. She actively fosters kittens from SafeHaven and enjoys interacting with all kinds of animals. Miriam enjoys being involved in the community, talking about animal science as well as working with client and shelter dogs to help them with behavioral issues. She is passionate about early dog training classes, preventative training measures and educating the public about dog body language and dog handling. Her household currently includes her beloved Siamese, Milo, her Great Dane, Westley, her two pet rats, Calcifer and Howl, her partner’s two Chihuahuas, Sadie & Josie, his Manx Maine Coon cat, Peach and their SafeHaven Alumni dog, Cassiopeia. Miriam and Cassiopeia are currently working on agility basics, trick training and exploring the world of dog sports.

Michaella Boyd – Dog Training Instructor
Michaella has recently received her professional dog training certification from the CATCH Canine Trainer’s Academy. Not only does she work with and train many of SafeHaven’s shelter dogs, but she also gets to feed them delicious treats while doing it! Michaella has always been an animal lover and has recently begun taking steps to develop her animal focused career. Before becoming a member of the Enrichment and Training Department, Michaella volunteered faithfully and helped SafeHaven shelter pets of all shapes and sizes. Michaella is the proud Fur Mama to an eight-year-old chocolate Lab named Hershey, three cats, and ten ducks.
