The purpose of the Linn Animal Samaritan Fund is to provide emergency veterinary care to injured stray dogs and cats when an owner/caretaker cannot be immediately identified or contacted and when a law enforcement official accompanies the injured pet(s) to a local veterinary hospital.
The Linn Animal Samaritan Fund is a cooperative alliance involving the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Police Department, Linn County Dog Control and SafeHaven Humane Society. The Linn Animal Samaritan Fund is not supported by any state, county or city government monies, but is subsidized by donations and grants. The funds are used to pay veterinary facilities for this emergency veterinary care.
We count on private donations from the public to keep the Linn Animal Samaritan Fund in operation. Without these donations, law enforcement officers have very limited resources in which to help a critically injured animal.
